We learn Spanish at Castleway or should we say... Nosotras aprendemos español en Castleway.

Modern Foreign Languages lessons and units of work at Castleway are carefully sequenced and progressive.

Spanish lessons at Castleway will:

• Teach Spanish through songs, games, activities and role play using real life things and props,

• Incorporate elements of speaking, listening, reading and writing Spanish,

• Allow time for pupils to engage in conversations; ask and answer questions; express opinions and respond to those of others;

• Offer pupils the opportunity to appreciate stories, songs, poems and rhymes in Spanish,

• Give time for pupils to understand basic grammar in Spanish,

• Develop accurate pronunciation and intonation in pupils Spanish speaking,

• Provide pupils time to practice Spanish in order for the language to become more automatic,

• Review previous learning regularly,  

• Offer pupils positive praise so that they feel successful in their learning,

• Provide pupils with feedback so that they are clear about how to make progress,

• Are taught by a qualified Spanish teaching expert with sound subject knowledge.
