Design Technology
We are Designers. We are Castleway.
At Castleway, our Design Technology curriculum is designed to be accessible to all so that every child knows more, remembers more and understands more. We believe that all pupils can succeed in Design Technology. We do not put limits on what pupils can achieve and we do not hold pre-conceptions about any pupils’ ability to make progress. We believe through learning Design Technology, pupils will develop creatively and critically.
Design Technology is taught in EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
In EYFS, there is a continuous provision to support all needs and areas of Design Technology such as box modelling and the use of simple tools.
Forest School sees our children use a range of tools in a variety of ways.
In Key Stages 1 and 2, Design Technology is taught through meaningful and exciting projects.
Our Design Technology Curriculum meets all requirements of the National Curriculum.
The national curriculum for design and technology aims to ensure that all pupils:
develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world
build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others
understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook.
